The Catanzaro Court of Appeal on Thursday reduced the sentence of former Forza Italia MP Giancarlo Pittelli from 11 years to seven years, eight months in relation to a conviction for helping the Calabria-based 'Ndrangheta mafia.
In November 2023 Pittelli was among around 200 people convicted in the so-called Rinascita Scott 'maxi' trial against alleged 'Ndrangheta members in the province of Vibo Valentia and the mob's white-collar facilitators.
Pittelli, a 72-year-old who is also a criminal lawyer, was convicted of external involvement in mafia association and two counts of revealing confidential information.
