BJP’s flagship programme, ‘Atal Modi Suparipalana Yatra’, which is currently under way across Andhra Pradesh, will soon witness the participation of senior national leaders.
Though it is a pan-India programme, the Andhra Pradesh unit, led by its president P.V.N. Madhav, has converted it into a ‘Bus Yatra’ to highlight the achievements of former Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee across the State on his birth centenary year by unveiling his bronze statue in every district headquarters.
The yatra started in Dharmavaram, where Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav unveiled the statue. Later, it was the turn of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to unveil the statues in Madanapalle and Tirupati on the fourth day.
Union Minister Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, State Ministers N. Lokesh, P. Keshav, A. Ramanarayana Reddy, Satya Kumar Yadav, G. Ravikumar, K. Parthasarathy, N.Md. Farooq, B.C. Janardhan Reddy and A. Satya Prasad took part in the statue-unveiling events during the first phase that concluded December 16.
In the second phase, the party plans to rope in former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu (Vizianagaram), Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai (Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada), Union Minister Bandi Sanjay (Visakhapatnam), B. Srinivasa Varma (Bhimavaram), BJP national secretary K. Annamalai (Eluru), and Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu (Srikakulam).
