Acclaimed director Rob Reiner had spoken about his son Nick’s recovery from addiction and shared how well he was doing in September — just months before Nick was taken into custody and booked for murder after his parents’ bodies were found with stab wounds in their Los Angeles home.
“He’s been great,” Reiner said during an appearance on NPR’s “Fresh Air” with Terry Gross.
The director added that Nick “hasn’t been doing drugs for over six years.”
“He’s in a really good place,” Reiner shared at the time.
During the sit-down, Gross also asked Reiner about a movie he collaborated on with Nick, called “Being Charlie.” Nick Reiner co-wrote the screenplay based on his own experiences with addiction and homelessness, while Rob Reiner directed the film.
