Actor Laura Benanti returned to “The Late Show” on Wednesday with her impression of Melania Trump and cleared up once and for all whether the first lady actually likes the holiday season.
The real FLOTUS was previously caught on tape in 2018 bemoaning having to do the White House Christmas decor and asking, “Who gives a fuck about Christmas stuff and decorations?”
It prompted host Stephen Colbert to ask Benanti’s Melania if she still felt that way.
“I love Christmas the same way I love my husband,” Benanti replied, before landing the punchline about President Donald Trump: “Once a year. Jingle boom.”
The bit also featured Benanti’s Melania hawking wildly overpriced Christmas ornaments, including souvenirs made from rubble following her husband’s controversial razing of the White House East Wing to make way for his ballroom.
