Police have arrested five transpersons for robbing a youth in the Puzhal area.
According to the police, Prasantha Mandal, 26, a native of West Bengal, has been working for the past six months at a private company in Vilangadupakkam, Chennai. On Sunday night, while he was walking along the Puzhal – Vadaperumbakkam Road, four trans persons who arrived in an auto intercepted him, blessed him, and demanded money.
When Prasantha Mandal attempted to take money from his purse, they snatched the purse containing ₹700. They then boarded an auto that was waiting nearby and fled the spot along with the auto driver, another trans person.
Based on a complaint lodged by Prasantha Mandal at the Puzhal Police Station Crime Wing, the police investigated and arrested the five persons involved in the crime. Three of the accused were identified as Jagan alias Jayashree, 18, of Tiruvottiyur, Appu alias Ashvika, 22, of Avadi, Bala alias Kayalvizhi, 25, of Ponneri.
