Ford Motor said Monday it was taking a $19.5 billion hit to its profit as it scales back its electric vehicle production to focus more on gasoline and hybrid cars – the latest EV pullback in the automotive industry as it grapples with slowing demand for fully electric cars.
Ford said it expects to take a $19.5 billion hit over the next two years as it pivots away from electric vehicles due to reduced demand and reduced profitability of the models.
