Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday said her government would soon deliver on key welfare promises for women, including monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500 and subsidised LPG cylinders.
Addressing a ‘Jhuggi Swabhiman Sabha’ in Wazirpur Industrial Area in support of BJP candidate from Ashok Vihar, Veena Asija, for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi bypolls, Ms. Gupta said, “We have promised ₹2,500 and subsidised gas cylinders in our manifesto. Not a single promise will remain unfulfilled.”
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress criticised the government for failing to implement the promises even after nine months of coming to power, calling it a “betrayal” of Delhi’s women.
“As a woman herself, she had raised the hopes of women… that this amount would support them and ease their struggles. But today, the women of Delhi feel that they have been misled,” Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav said.
