As tens of thousands of Americans hit the roads and airways this Thanksgiving week to reunite with family, challenging weather conditions threaten to complicate their journeys across multiple regions. Travelers can expect delays as winter weather is likely to affect different parts of the country.
According to AccuWeather meteorologists, Eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina and parts of the Gulf Coast face heavy thunderstorms through Tuesday evening. The Great Lakes region will experience howling winds capable of causing power outages from Tuesday night through Thursday, with Buffalo, New York, particularly vulnerable. Temperatures could drop 15-20 degrees across the Central, Eastern and Southern states from Wednesday into Thursday. Southwestern Washington and northwestern Oregon are likely to see heavy rain, expected to cause delays in Seattle and Portland. Heavy lake-effect snow will spread across Michigan, northern Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and much of New York.
