About 40 librarians from across the state received the Dr. S. R. Ranganathan awards from the School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi at the Anna Centenary Library on Wednesday. Additionally, 25 librarians received the library enthusiast awards (readers circle), and 12 libraries were given winning trophies for securing the highest donations and patrons.
The Dr. S. R. Ranganathan awards, instituted in memory of the ‘Father of Library Science in India’ are presented annually to selected librarians from the state. “When it comes to librarians, you all have the greatest responsibility in shaping a knowledge-driven Tamil society. We highly prioritise scientific temper in Tamil Nadu compared to other states, and the credit goes to our libraries, librarians, and readers,” said Mr. Poyyamozhi.
