A group of cadres of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) were arrested in Kumbakonam on Saturday after they staged a road roko demanding the closure of a TASMAC retail outlet in the heart of the town.
The protesters, led by party District President Vinoth Ravi assembled near the Government Aided R.C. Morning Star High School, in the vicinity of Sri Nageswaran Temple and went in a procession towards the newly set up TASMAC retail outlet in that area. They were prevented by the police at the junction of Nageswaran West Street and Mela Vadampokki Street and arrested.
