Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Four Antifa-linked groups in Europe are to be designated foreign terrorist organizations and specifically designated global terrorists, the State Department announced on Thursday.

The International Revolutionary Front aka the Informal Anarchist Federation in Italy, the Armed Proletarian Justice and the Revolutionary Class Self-Defense groups in Greece, and the Antifa Ost organization in Germany are to be designated as foreign terrorist organizations, The Hill reported.

"The designation of Antifa Ost and other violent Antifa groups supports President [Donald] Trump's ... initiative to disrupt self-described 'anti-fascism' networks, entities and organizations that use political violence and terroristic acts to undermine democratic institutions, constitutional rights and fundamental liberties," Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a prepared statement.

"Groups affiliated with this movement ascribe to revolutionary anarchist or Marxist ideologies, including anti-Americanism, 'anti-capitalism' and anti-Christianity, using these to incite and justify violent assaults domestically and overseas," Rubio added.
