A week after Olivier Rousteing's departure, Balmain announced the name of his replacement: On November 12, Antonin Tron was appointed creative director of the Parisian house, which was founded in 1945. While Tron is little known to the general public, he is a recognized figure within the fashion industry.

Born in Paris in 1984, Tron studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, alongside Demna and Glenn Martens, now designers for Gucci and Maison Margiela, respectively. After graduating in 2008, he returned to Paris, where he spent 17 years working for various prestigious houses, including Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Balenciaga and more recently, Saint Laurent. At the same time, in 2016, he also launched his own brand, Atlein, which became known for its draping techniques, most often applied to jersey dresses.

Although Atlein was recognized by industry observers as a label of quality, it struggled to carve out a place for itself in the highly competitive Paris fashion scene. In recent years, however, Tron's work gained momentum. He expanded his offerings to include tailoring and outerwear, and achieved notable success in 2024 by collaborating with Khy, Kylie Jenner's label. These achievements no doubt caught the attention of Balmain's leadership as they sought a successor to the charismatic Rousteing.
