Democrats won big in Tuesday night’s elections, sweeping nearly every major race ― often by much wider-than-expected margins ― in what many believe is a rejection of President Donald Trump.
The results also seem to bode well for the party’s chances of flipping the House of Representatives during next year’s midterm elections.
“Unless Donald Trump turns into a different person tomorrow, I think this trend will continue,” former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) said on MSNBC as the results came in.
Then, she went even further.
“We didn’t think the Senate was gonna be in play next year,” she said. “I think after tonight, the Senate’s definitely in play.”
