A 25-year-old man who tried to kill his father by mixing poison in liquor was arrested on Thursday.
Chellamuthu (50), a resident of Ramanaickenpalayam near Attur, is a farmer. His wife, Malar, and the couple has a son, Sivakumar, and a daughter. Sivakumar was working in the rural development department on a temporary basis. He quarrelled with his father regularly to transfer an ancestor’s property to his name.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, Sivakumar gave a liquor bottle allegedly mixed with poison to his father. Chellamuthu, along with his friend Lakshmanan (45) of the same locality, consumed it, and soon the duo fainted.
Neighbours took them to Attur Government Hospital and later Lakshmanan was referred to Salem Government Hospital. The Attur Rural police registered a case and arrested Sivakumar. He was remanded in prison.
