Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will attend the Police Commemoration Day ceremony at Goshamahal Police Stadium on October 21, according to a statement issued by Director General of Police B. Shivanand Reddy. The event will begin at 9.30 a.m., and the Chief Minister is scheduled to address the gathering.
The DGP said that Police Commemoration Day is being observed across Telangana from October 21 to 31, with a series of remembrance programmes planned State-wide. The observances will continue until National Unity Day, celebrated on October 31 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
This year, 191 police personnel across India have lost their lives in the line of duty, including five from Telangana. Police Commemoration Day has been observed since October 21, 1959, in memory of the ten CRPF personnel who were martyred at Hot Springs in Ladakh following a surprise attack by Chinese forces while on patrol under the leadership of SI Karan Singh.
A booklet highlighting the bravery and dedication of police personnel who laid down their lives in service last year will be released by Telangana Suraksha. Posters and hoardings will be displayed at key public locations to honour the martyrs.
