A car crash actually ended up saving brothers Alec Baldwin and Stephen Baldwin from a serious disaster in the Hamptons on Monday afternoon.The “30 Rock” actor checked in with Instagram followers after the accident to let them know he and his brother were OK after smashing Alec’s wife’s SUV into a tree.“This morning I was in this car accident, the guy cut me off in a big garbage truck. I mean, a garbage truck the size of a whale,” Baldwin told fans in a video captioned, “Thank you for your concern.”“It must have been something commercial for like taking away material from construction or something,” he added. “It was the biggest garbage truck I’ve ever seen.”Alec Baldwin, here in August, is lucky to be safe after crashing his car off a highway in the Hamptons on Monday.John Nacion via Getty ImagesBaldwin said he swerved off the road to avoid hitting the huge vehicle but then ended up hitting “a big, fat tree.”“I crushed my wife’s car and I feel bad about that,” he added. “But it’s all fine and I’m fine and my brother’s fine.”East Hampton Police Chief Michael Sarlo corroborated Baldwin’s account in a statement to TMZ, where he confirmed that Baldwin’s white 2023 Range Rover appeared to “have struck a tree” on a highway shoulder “while avoiding the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck.”He added there were no injuries reported and there would be no further action from his department, as the accident was found to be the “reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions.”Close
