Aziz Ansari tried to laugh off his anxiety about America’s ongoing deportation upsurge during a Tuesday appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Now a resident of the U.K., the South Carolina born-and-raised comedian told Kimmel this was his first trip stateside “since all this ICE stuff started happening.”

“I’m all nervous,” Ansari said. “I got friends, they’re like, ‘We’re hiding our nanny in the basement. We might have to raise our kids! We don’t know what we’re going to do!’”

Half-jokingly, the “Parks and Rec” star then confessed, “I’m on edge, man. I’m carrying my passport all the time just in case people haven’t seen the shows, you know?”

Though the attention of immigration agents wouldn’t be ideal for Ansari, who is of Indian descent, he imagined how an encounter could make decent comic material.
