A father of three died after a jet hose exploded and caught his face - and now his former employers have been fined £800,000 for health and safety failures.
Miguel Galvao, 51, was struck by the hose while at work in Leeds and seriously injured on December 10, 2022. He died in hospital 17 days later.
Mr Galvao was working as a drainage engineer and when priming the jetting hose, a loud explosion was heard at the Lanes Group Limited site in West Yorkshire.
The end of the hose whipped up at high speed, striking him in the head and he was rushed to hospital.
The father-of-three was placed in an induced coma but after two weeks in hospital, doctors told his partner Estefania Fonseca there was nothing more they could do.
