A young man who was standing and speaking on his phone on the terrace of a residence in Padi Kuppam in Chennai was struck by lightning and died late on Monday (October 6, 2025).

According to the Thirumangalam Police, the deceased, identified as Mukundhan, 20, a college student, was struck by lightning while on a call. The impact reportedly caused his mobile phone to explode, resulting in his death.
