Two persons, including a 15-year-old boy, S. Kavin Pandian, were electrocuted to death when they came in contact with live electricity in two different incidents in Virudhunagar district since Saturday night.The police said that heavy rain were reported in Sattur and Sivakasi taluks on Saturday.When M. Mariappan, 57, a fireworks worker, was walking on the road in Gandhi Nagar Reserve Line, he stomped on an overhead electric cable that had got snapped and lying on the road on Saturday night.Since, the cable was lying under water, he could not notice it and was killed on the spot upon being electrocuted. Sivakasi Town police are investigating.Meanwhile, in the other incident reported under Ammapatti police station limits near Sattur, Kavin Pandian, a Class X boy, was killed in Settudaiyanpatti past Saturday midnight.The police said that the local youths had organised a Kabbadi match in the locality. The boys and the youths had made arrangement for the event. However, as heavy downpour was reported in their area, they suspended their work.Only after the rain stopped, the local persons had resumed their work.Kavin Pandian had attempted to tie a rope in the stay wire of an electric pole when the leaking electric supply electrocuted him.Though he was rushed to the Virudhunagar Government Medical College hospital, he succumbed.Ammapatti police have registered a case.
