A broad area of low pressure over the Atlantic Ocean could become the next named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season over the next couple of days.
The tropical wave, labeled as Invest 95L (AL95), has an 80% chance of formation through the next 48 hours and an 90% chance through the next seven days, the National Hurricane Center said in an evening advisory on Oct. 6. The next name up for the 10th named storm of the 2025 season is Jerry.
Environmental conditions appear conducive for a tropical depression to form within "the next day or so," the hurricane center said. "This system is expected to be near or north of the northern Leeward Islands on Thursday and Friday, and interests there should monitor its progress."

A second potential system is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. It's forecast to move across the Yucatan Peninsula into Tuesday and then over the Bay of Campeche, the hurricane center said.
