MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Monday visited the residence of S.L. Bhyrappa, the noted novelist and literary icon, to offer condolences to his wife Saraswathamma and son Ravishankar.

Mr. Yaduveer said that due to the Dasara festivities and religious engagements, he was unable to visit the family earlier. “Now that the proceedings have concluded, I have met the family and offered my condolences,” he said.

In a press release, Mr. Yaduveer informed that he has formally requested the State government to confer the Karnataka Ratna award posthumously on Bhyrappa whose works brought global recognition to Mysuru and Karnataka.

He also said that a letter has been written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging that the Mysuru City Central Library be renamed after Bhyrappa.

Mr. Yaduveer has also urged the government to build a permanent memorial on the library premises, showcasing the novelist’s life and literary contributions.
