YSR Congress Party on Sunday (October 05, 2025) accused the NDA regime led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu of encouraging spurious liquor and suspected the role of TDP leaders in the liquor syndicate. In an apparent bid to counter ‘J Brands’ used by the TDP during last year’s general elections, Proddatur former MLA and YSRCP State spokesperson Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy used ‘N brands’ and alleged that spurious and cheap quality liquor was being made locally by those owing allegiance to the ruling dispensation.Addressing the media at Proddatur on Sunday, he pointed out that the huge cache of spurious liquor recently unearthed at a roadside Dhaba in Molakalacheruvu of Annamayya district as the proverbial ‘tip of the iceberg’.“The quantum of seizure in terms of the bottles and the machinery indicates a capacity to produce over ₹2 crore worth of spurious liquor everyday, pegged at ₹100 crore a month and ₹1,500 crore in the last sixteen months. The State owes the public an explanation regarding who owns this manufacturing setup, sourcing of raw material and the list of liquor outlets the stock is supplied to,” he said.Mr. Sivaprasad Reddy alleged that the migrant workers were being made a scapegoat in the issue to shield the TDP leaders, who were actually the ‘masterminds’.He stated that the excise department has meekly surrendered to the ruling party. He said it was evident because the officials did not conduct inspections on the 3,500 licensed liquor outlets ever since the change of guard in the State.
