All permanent and temporary shops, and manufacturers and sellers of sweets and savouries during the Deepavali festival season must get Food Safety license and display it on the premises without fail, said Virudhunagar Collector N. O. Sukhaputra.They can apply for license through https://foscos.fssai.gov.in, the Collector said in a statement.The manufacturers of the eatables should buy raw materials from suppliers, who have got food safety license and should make the goods in a hygienic environment.They should not use artificial colouring agents which are not permitted. Besides, the quantum of permitted colouring agents should be used at the permitted quantity.Edible oil should be used only one time for cooking and the used oil should be sold for manufacturing of bio-diesel, the statement said.The sweet and savouries pack should have the date of manufacturing, expiry date, food safety license number in its label.The details of cooking oil and ghee used for manufacturing the snacks should be put on display for the benefit of the consumers.Despite being not mandatory, the traders should volunteer for displaying the date of manufacturing and expiry day for the snacks put on display for retail sale.The workers involved in manufacturing and sale of sweets and savouries should have been vaccinated against contagious diseases like typhoid and jaundice. Besides, they should wear gloves and kitchen caps.The Collector said that they should use only the permitted plastic bags for packing the sweets.The manufacturers should get the quality of water used for manufacturing the snacks analysed by laboratories of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board or Department of Public Health and the certificate should be kept ready for producing to the officials.The Collector has also instructed the officials of Food Safety Department to inspect those manufacturing units and shops and lift samples and take stringent action against those having goods of poor quality.Complaints about quality of snacks could be lodged over 04562-225255 and 94440-42322, the statement said.
