The police arrested a youth for assaulting the crew of a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus near St. Thomas Mount on Wednesday night.
When Rajmohan, 45, of Cuddalore was driving the bus near the Guindy Metro flyover, a car in front of the vehicle refused to give way. After repeated honking, the car stopped abruptly near Kathipara and blocked the bus.
When Mr. Rajmohan confronted the car driver, the latter abused and attacked him. Sivakumar, the conductor of the bus, was also assaulted when he tried to intervene and suffered a bleeding head injury. The car driver then threatened the TNSTC staff before fleeing the spot. Mr. Sivakumar was rushed to the hospital.
Based on Mr. Rajmohan’s complaint, the St. Thomas Mount police arrested Kesavan, 29, of Adyar’s Indira Nagar. His car was seized.
