The police arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly harassing a college student on a Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus in Triplicane on Thursday.
According to police, the accused, Ramu, of Mannady sat next to the victim in the bus (32B) and allegedly behaved inappropriately. When she attempted to move away, he reportedly used abusive language and twisted her arm.
The 19-year-old victim raised an alarm, prompting the driver to stop the bus at the Triplicane Police Station, where passengers helped hand over the man to police.
The police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, and arrested Ramu.
