Home Minister V. Anitha had a bitter experience as her convoy was stopped by a large number of angry protestors at Rajampeta, opposing the Bulk Drug Park in Anakapalli district, on Monday.
Protestors raised slogans ‘Home Minister Go Back’ and voiced discontent against the State government, even placing a huge tree across the road to block the Home Minister’s convoy. Despite requests from the police and the Home Minister herself, the protestors did not let the convoy go. However, after assurances from the Home Minister to address their issues pertaining to the Bulk Drug Park, her convoy was allowed to go.
Later, addressing the media at Nakkapalli, Ms. Anitha said that the villagers have been protesting against the construction of the Bulk Drug Park for the past 16 days.
She said: “The residents of Rajayyapeta invited me to visit. I had told them I would come after the Assembly sessions concluded, but I came a day earlier. I respect the concerns of the people and I will convey their issues to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.”
She said that she had already requested a temporary halt to the construction work on the Bulk Drug Park
