Minister for Home V. Anitha in a press release on Sunday (December 21) announced that the fisherfolk who had been staging protests against the proposed Bulk Drug Park at Rajayyapeta in Nakkapalli Assembly constituency for the past several months have permanently dismantled their protest camp.
This development followed a meeting between representatives of the fisherfolk and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, which was organised by Ms. Anitha during the Chief Minister’s visit to Anakapalli on December 20.
According to her, the Chief Minister met the Rajayyapeta fisherfolk near Ugginapalem, close to Tallapalem. During the interaction, the fisherfolk placed their concerns before the Chief Minister, who responded positively and promised them that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has always stood by fisherfolk and would fulfil all their demands.
The Chief Minister also gave a clear assurance that a jetty would be constructed in Rajayyapeta village, besides establishing a hospital and a hostel. He further assured that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure that the livelihood of the fisherfolk would not be affected in any manner.
Expressing satisfaction over the assurances given by the Chief Minister, the Rajayyapeta fisherfolk permanently removed the tent erected at their protest camp on Sunday.
