The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Wednesday arrested six persons for placing a wooden log on a railway track in Coimbatore, posing potential risk to safety of trains.The arrested are B. Dinesh, 25, Gokul Krishnan, 24, S. Vinod alias Sasikumar, 19, and R. Karthik, 25, of Ondipudur, K. Nagaraj, 19, of Pullukadu near Ukkadam and M. Vedhavan, 22, from K. Morur in Salem district.A wooden log was found on the track between Singanallur and Irugur railway stations in the city on Monday. A case was registered under Section (1) (a) (puts or throws upon or across any railway, any wood, stone or other matter or thing) of the Railways Act at GRP, Coimbatore station.Two special teams were formed and the accused were arrested based on visuals from surveillance cameras.
