The Dindigul district police arrested a history-sheeter and six of his accomplices on Saturday and seized a car and two swords from their possession.Speaking to media persons, Superintendent of Police Jeyakumar said on Sunday that special teams have been formed to monitor movements of anti-socials and wanted persons across the district. Based on specific inputs, the teams keep a surveillance on habitual offenders as well.On Saturday, when a speeding car hit at a parked two-wheeler on the Vedasandur-Salaiyur Road and did not stop, a few public chased the vehicle, which abruptly stopped as a tyre went flat. The driver was in an inebriated state.Under such circumstances, when the police received information, Sub-Inspector of Police Balasubramanian and team rushed to the spot and held the driver. Interrogations revealed that he was a history-sheeter and identified as Sundar alias Suthamalli Sundar, 34, son of Murugan of Silvarpatti village, Dindigul district.A senior officer said that there were 23 criminal cases pending against the accused in many districts which included murder, attempt to murder, waylaying, explosives Act and among others. The accused was taken to the Vedasandur Government Hospital and later produced before a Judicial Magistrate court, which remanded him in judicial custody.Since the police were aware of the movements of the accomplices of Sundar, they were also nabbed in a special operation by DSP Pavithra, Inspector Ganesamoorthi and team. The accused were identified as Karthi, 36, Sivandar, 20, Rajkumar, 25, Sarath, 33, Thanga Paramesh, 41, and Karthikeyan, 45, all belonging to Dindigul district.The car and two swords from the possession of the accused was seized. Vedasandur police registered a case in this connection.The SP warned of stern action against people, who violated laws and urged the public to share information with them for swift response from the police.
