Assam CM orders autopsy on Zubeen Garg, CID probe, and State funeral amid public pressure and controversy.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday (September 22, 2025) that an autopsy will be conducted on the body of popular singer-composer Zubeen Garg at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital at 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday (September 23, 2025). He has also ordered a CID probe. Public pressure had been building for an inquiry.
He said the process will be completed ahead of Garg’s cremation at Hatimura in Sonapur, about 30 k.m. east of Guwahati.
