Two time former premier and left-wing 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader Giuseppe Conte said Monday he condemned the violence that injured 60 police at a pro Gaza demo in Milan but that "the cry against genocide must be heard".
"Today, thousands and thousands of citizens took to the streets to demand a stop to the genocide," said Conte.
"Obviously, we condemn acts of violence, which are never acceptable.
We firmly condemn them, and we also show solidarity with the officers who were injured.
But be careful: the government must focus on the widespread cry for a stop to the genocide."
