Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan on Thursday ordered an immediate halt to all road excavation works and denied permission for any new road-cutting projects within the city limits. The directive applies to all departments, including BWSSB, BESCOM, and KPTCL. Mr. Cholan noted that while these departments had completed their projects, they failed to properly restore the roads afterward, causing damage and traffic disruptions. He emphasised that no new permissions will be granted, and ongoing projects must remain suspended until all previously excavated roads are fully restored. To ensure accountability, the corporation will prepare a ward-wise list of all excavated roads with photographs and only after repairs are verified, approvals for new or ongoing works will be given. The commissioner also directed appointment of nodal officers to monitor issues.
