Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao slammed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for escalation of the Kondapochamma Sagar-Gandipet drinking water project’s cost from, what he claimed, ₹1,100 crore to a staggering ₹7,400 crore, a seven-fold increase. He alleged that the Chief Minister had increased the cost to plunder public funds and ‘send the money to his party’s top leaders in Delhi’.Speaking after unveiling a documentary produced by BRS leader Anugula Rakesh Reddy on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Mr. Rama Rao rejected claims of a ₹1 lakh crore scam in the Kaleshwaram project. He claimed that only one barrage of the project, the Medigadda barrage, had been damaged.“The barrage cost, including the payment made for land acquisition, is ₹4,000 crore, of which ₹1,500 crore went into construction. The single block where pillars were damaged requires ₹300 crore to fix, and the contracting firm has already ‘agreed to bear the cost’,” he said, dismissing allegations of waste of money by the BRS government.
