Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin is in custody after being turned in by his father.
“I think we have him,” Donald Trump revealed in an interview with Fox and Friends this morning.
The US president said the suspect’s father “convinced” his son to turn himself in after a “person of faith, a minister” recognised the alleged gunman.
The president also said he hoped that Kirk’s killer receives the death penalty, describing the 31-year-old conservative activist as the “finest person”.
It follows a two-day manhunt for Kirk’s killer who fatally shot him in the neck at a university event in Utah on Wednesday.
