A bomb threat targeting the Cliff House, the official residence of the Kerala Chief Minister; and the Thiruvananthapuram District Court, prompted a high-alert response in the Kerala capital on Monday (September 8, 2025).

The Thiruvananthapuram City police, which rushed its Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and other units to both premises, later confirmed the threat to be a hoax. No suspicious objects were recovered in the searches.

A threat message, received via an email addressed to the District Court, had prompted the checks.

According to the police, the threat message references certain issues related to Tamil Nadu politics. Security has been intensified in and around both locations.

It is suspected that the message originated from the same source that circulated over 25 similar hoax messages this year, targeting prominent locations including the Secretariat and the Cliff House.
