he construction of the Kamarajar Grand Library and Intellectual Centre at Mannarpuram in Tiruchi is likely to be opened by January 2026.
“The centre will become a major intellectual hub in the State, supporting both academic and cultural activities. Construction is progressing under the supervision of the PWD engineers, and we expect to complete the work by January, well ahead of the deadline,” said Minister for Public Works E.V. Velu during a brief interaction with reporters in the city on Sunday.
He inspected the ongoing construction of the library along with Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and directed the officials to expedite the work. Collector V. Saravanan and senior officials were present.
The state-of-the-art facility, which is being built at a cost of ₹290 crore, including ₹50 crore for ebooks and ₹5 crore for equipment, will house an integrated library, knowledge hub, and intellectual resource centre aimed at benefiting students, researchers, and the general public.
