Nigel Farage is testifying before Congress this morning in Washington, raising concerns about British restrictions on freedom of speech.
The Reform UK leader is appearing before the House Judiciary Committee, which is looking at the effect that British and European online safety laws are having on US tech giants.
Mr Farage is expected to raise the case of Graham Linehan, the Father Ted creator, who was arrested by five armed officers over posts he made on X about transgender people.
He is also set to mention the case of Lucy Connolly, who was jailed over a social media post in the wake of the Southport attacks, and subsequently accused Sir Keir Starmer of holding her as a “political prisoner”.
Mr Farage will say that Britain has become an “illiberal and authoritarian censorship regime”, according to written evidence submitted to Congress seen by The Sun newspaper.
