I have a confession: Even though I have sensitive skin and dry patches galore, trying out new sunscreens is one of my favorite pastimes. I attribute this to the fact that the sheer volume of viable options has skyrocketed over the last decade. The industry has come a long way from the thick, goopy formulas of the past, and we’ve come an even longer way from with mineral SPFs, which are slowly shedding their reputation for chalkiness, poor application and heavy texture. Case in point: the Tower28 SOS FaceGuard SPF 30 sunscreen, a mineral formula that proves sunscreen can actually be an enjoyable skincare step.
This sunscreen is the first of its kind under Tower 28’s viral SOS skincare umbrella, which focuses on skincare for sensitive skin, particularly addressing concerns of redness, irritation and breakouts (fan-favorites from the line include the SOS Rescue Spray).
As someone with particularly finicky skin, there’s so much I love about this formula. For one, its whipped texture, which blends into the skin with little to no effort and feels incredibly lightweight. The sunscreen is tinted and doesn’t leave behind a white cast on my medium-olive complexion (though keep in mind that it does leave behind a white cast on darker complexions, according to some reviews at Sephora). It also boasts three seals of approval from the National Eczema Association, National Rosacea Society and National Psoriasis Foundation, meaning sensitive skin types can use it without having to worry about it causing breakouts or flare-ups.
