1. Plodda Falls, Glen Affric

It’s a slippery scramble down into the forested canyon here, but this deep, large, black plunge pool is worth it. Sitting at the base of a beautiful waterfall, it’s a majestic spot for a dip. The remains of Victorian viewing gangways can be seen around the pool. There’s parking via a forestry track three miles beyond Tomich hotel. Drop down through woods from here to enjoy the panorama (or take the plunge).
