While senior Iranian regime officials took strict precautions to hide from Israel during the June conflict between the two countries, avoiding carrying phones with them, Israeli intelligence was still able to track them by monitoring the mobile phones of their bodyguards, sources told The New York Times.
According to the sources, the bodyguards of senior Iranian officials had been using their phones recklessly for years, even posting on social media. This negligence enabled Israel to pinpoint the locations of nuclear scientists and commanders in the Iranian military, ultimately allowing them to target them.
