The Israel Defense Force's Chief of Staff confirmed that Israel assassinated Abu Obeida, the spokesman of the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas in a Saturday strike on western Gaza City.
Speaking at a situational assessment in the Northern Command, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that the strike was carried out on Abu Obeida, "after most of Hamas' leadership had already been eliminated. Our actions are not yet complete. Most of the remaining Hamas' leadership is abroad, and we will reach them as well."
