A 75-year-old retired florist who had recently become a great-grandmother was tragically killed by a tree branch as she walked her dog, an inquest heard.
'Caring' Carol Spearing had been walking in Ashcombe Park in her home town of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, with friends and her dog Barney on June 5 last year.
There was then a loud crack as she stood on the public path, and the 75-year-old was suddenly hit by a large tree branch.
Avon Coroners' Court heard the mother-of-two suffered a serious head injury and multiple fractures.
The recent great-grandmother he was freed by firefighters and treated at the scene by critical care teams before being airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she died in intensive care on June 30.
