Ryanair is set to cut the number of flights to and from Spain amid a fee row which could affect a million passengers.

The Irish airliner is due to scrap around a million passenger seats this winter, impacting holidaymakers looking to get away.

The budget carrier said charges imposed by Spanish airport operator Aena had forced it to scale back services.

The firm charges airlines a fee for using its airports and services, including the use of terminals, runways, security, aircraft and baggage handling.

The latest increase means that fees for airlines will rise by 6.5 per cent next year, with passengers expected to see a hike in prices.
