Seven out of the eight survivors in the sensational Pollachi sexual assault case on Tuesday received the compensation awarded by the trial court in its verdict on May 13.

Sources said that the total compensation of ₹85 lakh ordered by the Mahila Court, Coimbatore, was transferred to the bank accounts of the seven survivors through the State Legal Services Authority. The Hindu in its columns in July had highlighted the delay in the transfer of the compensation.

Trial court judge R. Nandhini Devi, who sentenced all the nine accused in the case to life imprisonment, had ordered a total compensation of ₹85 lakh for seven survivors, who were listed as A, B, C, D, E, G and H in the judgment to protect their identities. The compensation for them are — A ₹2 lakh; B ₹15 lakh; C and D ₹10 lakh each; E ₹8 lakh; G ₹15 lakh; and H ₹25 lakh.

One survivor, identified as ‘F’ in case files, was not awarded compensation as she had not been examined as prosecution witness as per the judgment order.
