Amanda Knox, the American former Perugia exchange student wrongly accused of murdering British flatmate Meredith Kercher, is now taking back her story and telling her version in a TV miniseries.

'The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox' will debut on Hulu (in Italy on Disney+) from August 20 and is based on her autobiography, 'Waiting to be Heard: A Memoir by Amanda Knox,' published in 2013.

Grace Van Patten (Nine Perfect Strangers, Tell Me Lies) stars alongside Sharon Horgan as Amanda's mother Edda Mellas, John Hoogenakker as her father, Kurt Knox, Francesco Acquaroli as Giuliano Mignini, the prosecutor of Perugia, Giuseppe De Domenico as her then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, and Roberta Mattei as Monica Napoleoni, head of the homicide division of the Perugia flying squad and Mignini's right-hand woman.

"I thought I knew more than I actually did," Van Patten said during a press conference about the Knox case, "but the more I researched, watched, read, and especially talked to her (Amanda), I couldn't believe how much I didn't know.

"So, it was really amazing, but also heartbreaking and frustrating to learn all the things you don't know." And regarding telling Amanda's story, "I thought it was really great to give her the opportunity to reclaim her story and tell her side of the story.
