In view of moderate to heavy rain forecast for nine districts, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday (August 16, 2025) morning issued a series of directions to officials including deployment of rescue teams, closing waterlogged roads to public, evacuating people from low-lying areas to relief centres and others.
Nizamabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Vikarabad, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam were forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, according to a press release.
Traffic has to be stopped on low-level bridges, causeways and waterlogged roads. The Police and Revenue department were directed to place barricades there.
The irrigation department has to keep a close watch on the water levels in reservoirs, lakes and ponds and inform collectors concerned and staff at ground level if water were to be released. Sand bags have to be placed in advance at lakes, reservoirs which are brimming.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have to be deployed in advance in areas which are forecast to receive heavy rain. The Chief Minister said that they will coordinate with collectors in taking up relief measures.
