CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten on Tuesday said residents in Washington, D.C., are totally not on board with President Donald Trump’s plan to take over the police force in the nation’s capital, where violent crime rates are dropping.
“I think there’s some idea out there that Trump’s somehow a conquering hero. But he’s, in fact, as welcomed in Washington, D.C. as Eagles fans are Commanders games,” Enten told CNN’s Jessica Dean.
Trump flooded a press conference with false claims Monday to defend his plans to deploy 800 National Guard troops and federalize police in Washington.
Enten flagged how 71% of D.C. residents indicated that Trump was “too involved” in local issues while 11% of those wanted him more involved in local affairs prior to Monday’s presser, according to a Washington Post-Schar School survey conducted from mid-April to early May.
A majority of every demographic tested by the Post also believed Trump was too involved, per Enten.
