In view of the heavy rain forecast from August 13, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan has issued necessary instructions to all the officials to be on the alert and ensure proper action with regard to dilapidated structures and cellar excavations in city.
He asked officials to recheck the status of the identified dilapidated structures and cellar excavations, and take instant action as and where required.
Mr. Karnan addressed an online review meeting on Tuesday about the progress of action on these two fronts. Noting pendency of action in Khairatabad, Secunderabad and Charminar zones, he wanted follow up and necessary action.
Action on dilapidated structures and cellar excavations is being carried out in the wake of monsoon, by issuing notices and taking preventive action in order to safeguard lives and properties, a statement from GHMC said.
A total of 685 dilapidated structures have been identified in the city, and action has been taken in case of 327 structures by way of either repairs or evacuation. For the remaining, follow up action has been initiated by issuing notices, obtaining reports on structural safety and counselling owners about vacating the premises.
