The Special Court for SC/ST Cases here has granted the CB-CID two-day custody of the accused in the Scheduled Caste techie Kavin Selvaganesh murder case to inquire them.
Following the murder of Kavin at KTC Nagar on Tirunelveli outskirts on July 27, the police arrested S. Surjith of KTC Nagar on the same day and arrested his father and Sub-Inspector Saravanan on July 30. Surjith allegedly murdered Kavin as his elder sister Subhashini, a siddha doctor, was in a relationship with the victim, who was also her classmate when they were studying in a school in Thoothukudi.
As the family of the deceased was not happy with the investigation by Palayamkottai police, the State government handed over the case to the CB-CID, which sought custody of the accused for five days for inquiry.
However, Judicial Magistrate Hema granted the investigating agency two-day custody, and asked the investigators to produce them before her at 6 p.m. on August 13.
